Fallout 76 Service Based Model Is A Try Out For Bethesda, Not Its Future

Written by

When Louis D. Brandeis, said “There are no shortcuts in evolution”, he really summarized so many meanings in a simple sentence. That anyone or anything, which is undergoing a process of evolution or change will have to surpass certain hurdles, will have to take certain steps, and there can be no shortcuts. Similar is the case with the gaming industry, one of the fastest evolving industries of the present world, and in that industry, one of the most famous and well-reputed developing company is the Bethesda Game Studios. It seems like they too are taking a small step towards evolution. Remember their Fallout 76 Service Based Model? Well, it certainly is not the future for the company but they are definitely trying it out.

In this evolving gaming industry, where most of the games seem to be shifting towards “games as a service model” Bethesda studio has also considered to try it out.

Now while most of the community thinks that it will be the future for the studio, the studio head Todd Howard has shared his thoughts that, while it definitely is something that the studio is trying out, it certainly is not a departure from the usual single player experiences, developed by the studio.

Todd Howard referring to the Fallout 76 Service Based Model and their other games said,

“Anyone who has ever said ‘this is the future and this part of gaming is dead’ has been proven wrong every single time. We like to try it all. For a long time we wanted to try a multiplayer game and we had this idea. We shouldn’t be afraid. We should try it.”

Howard said that it definitely is a lighter touch to the style of gaming, and they are trying this out to see how it responds back. Which is pretty understandable, and points out the fact that the studio is trying to evolve for the better, but also realizing that small steps cannot be ignored and are necessary for such a process.
