PlayStation Exclusives could one day include PC versions.
Speaking to Bloomberg this week, Shawn Layden, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman, teased a potential change to the way they run the PlayStation Exclusives. He said: “We must support the PlayStation platform — that is nonnegotiable,
“That said, you will see in the future some titles coming out of my collection of studios which may need to lean into a wider installed base.”
It looks as though Layden was referring not to PC versions of multiplayer titles, rather than them suddenly opening games up to Nintendo or similar.
This comes as Sony officially announced that it acquired Insomniac Games, the development team behind the wildly successful PlayStation 4 exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man.
