We reported back in November that the staff behind the web anime version of Key’s kinetic novel Planetarian was holding a crowdfunding campaign in Japan for a new OVA based on spinoff novels. In around two days, the campaign succeeded in crowdfunding its goal of 30 million yen (around $276,150 USD).
On Twitter, Key and the anime production gave thanks to the project’s supporters, and revealed that the first stretch goal for the project will be to extend the length of the episode if the crowdfunding amount reaches 40 million yen.
As previously stated, the OVA will be produced and animated by Okuruto Noburu, a new studio formed by former David Production staff.
planetarian: The Reverie of a Little Planet is available on PC, PlayStation Portable, iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch.
