Despite Polish author Andrezj Sapkowski being the author of the source material for Netflix’s Witcher series, there actually wasn’t all that much of Andrezj Sapkowski on the Witcher itself. This was apparently by the author’s own choice, in order to preserve the show’s creative freedom, though he intervened when necessary.
The Witcher series is based on Sapkowski’s books, rather than the CD Projekt RED games that were also based off of Sapkowski’s work. The series follows three different characters, the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, the witcher Geralt of Rivia, and the fallen princess Cirilla (or Ciri), as they travel the Continent to find each other along with resolving their own plotlines.
Sapkowski actually said that he was pleasantly surprised with how The Witcher turned out, as he said when he writes he doesn’t see images, only the words on the page, and so seeing his books brought to life in video games or TV shows…
