Resident Evil 3 Sells Nearly 190,000 Units for Launch Week in Japan – Famitsu

Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 had a very strong release in Japan for its opening week, according to Famitsu. The remake sold a whopping 189,490 units at retail according to the publication’s estimated sales for March 30th to April 5th 2020. Estimates included the regular release and Z-rated version of the game.

Impressive as it is, this wasn’t enough to dethrone Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Despite launching several weeks ago, the Switch exclusive sold an estimated 423,367 units at retail for the week. This brings its lifetime total sales in Japan to 3,031,784 which is pretty crazy even without accounting for digital sales.
