It’s being reported that Japan’s Nintendo theme park won’t be opening its doors as planned this year. Super Nintendo World was originally scheduled to open within Universal Japan during summer 2020, but it now seems that the global coronavirus pandemic has nixed those plans.
The news comes from Bloomberg, where it’s reported that although summer 2020 will no longer be the opening day for the IRL Mushroom Kingdom, there’s still a chance it will open its doors at some point in 2020.
Earlier this month, the CEO of Universal Studios parent company Comcast confirmed the site will open “a few months past our original expectation” due to delays with construction.
Judging from leaked snaps of the park, it’s coming along very nicely, though of course we don’t know to what extent the coronavirus pandemic has halted the proceedings.
