Netflix is stepping up its anime game in 2021. During the AnimeJapan 2021 showcase on Friday, the streaming service announced that will release “around 40” anime titles, movies and series, in 2021 — almost double what it released last year.
Among Netflix’s upcoming shows are a few anime series that are set to release in the next for months. On April 8, Netflix will release the first season of Way of the Househusband, a comedy series about a former Yakuza member raising a family, animated by J.C. Staff. Later that same month, the streaming service will premiere MAPPA’s Yasuke, which tells the story of a Black samurai in an alternate-history version of Japan.
