  • Interesting. At the very least, if the gun play for the guns in COD 2021 is like the gunplay from MW 2019, it would at least have something nice to start out with. Having the World War 2 guns have the same gunplay/feel as MW 2019 would honestly be really cool.

  • With Sledgehammer up this year and Infinity Ward up next year makes me wonder what Treyarchs game was supposed to be before they all got moved to the failed Sledgehammer/ Raven game.

I wonder if this is the reason the next CoD by Sledgehammer is again going back to WW2. Since they essentially were kicked off from Cold War maybe they themselves are doing what Treyarch did last year. Rushing a game together in less time than normal. I imagine this “New” title wasnt in production for too long so it may be why its WW2 again as they would be reusing assets just to throw something together by November.

I really freakin wish that when this becomes the case for the CoD Devs that Activision would just delay a CoD for once, Cold War could have used it definitely.

I don’t get why not its not like the Present CoD isnt going to be bringing in money, and hell if CoD is delayed they would win so much good graces with the fanbase, and since its pushed a year more people will buy the Present or Previous CoDs for that “Itch”

At this point im just looking forward to what IW has in store next year as Modern Warfare was near perfect imo with the only thing holding it back was its flawed as hell Map Design. And with MW2 it may be the only CoD with a proper Dev time.

  • I don’t care what engine they use if its over 150gb I’m not even gonna bother….at this point my ps5 has become a dedicated cod machine…..

    sonicboom9000 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Modern Warfare reboot was a graphical and mechanical masterclass courtesy of the engine which was a beast! I’ll be really happy if they start to use it for other games too

  • MW2019’s should be the standard moving forward. MW2019 is such a pretty looking game. Part of the reason I never wanted to play Cold War is because it’s using that old engine, the game looks ugly.

    DaftWarrior April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Good. The decision to let Treyarch use a much worse engine for their game was stupid.

  • The features described for the ‘IW8’ engine were:

The new technology utilizes the latest advancements in visual engineering, including a physically-based material system allowing for state of the art photogrammetry, a new hybrid tile based streaming system, new PBR decal rendering system, world volumetric lighting, 4K HDR, DirectX Raytracing (PC) and more as well as a new GPU geometry pipeline.

  • Anyone else just not hyped for these? When you crap out a COD every year, it just ain’t special anymore…

    KingMario05 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Can’t wait for another year of strong SBMM/EOMM, greedy business practices, disbanding lobbies, game being released unfinished with barely any maps, trickled down dlc updates down the line with half of them being remakes, horrible netcode, endless bugs and glitches that take months to get fixed, challenges not working, bad visibility, and all of this to be repeated all over again for CoD 2022 next year.

    Stop giving Activi$ion your money.

  • This is first reported by VGC, not Charlie intel. Here’s the link to the proper article with full details.

  • I would be very surprised if it doesn’t

    OnlineBuffalo34 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • The more interesting factoid by VGC is the uncertainity of Warzone to be featured in CoD 2021. I mean how the hell would gunsmith/balancing would work?

    Dangerman1337 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • So we have a /r/TheMonkeysPaw situation here. We get the MW engine, but it’s for a WW2 game.

    SpareCoochieuwu April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • They better make the game size smaller. The game size is ridiculous now.

    R4K1B- April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Hopefully they wont forget about the directional audio this time. It’s ridiculous how in MW19 when you hear something like footsteps or gunfire you can’t tell where it’s coming from.

  • For as long as you can’t mount your gun on every fucking surface I won’t mind at all, the MW engine is great.

    AhhBisto April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • An Obvious Prediction: All CODS in the future will be on the MW2019 engine, because of easier Warzone integreation. Only reason it didn’t happen 2020 is because they had not anticipated WZ’s success.

    TheRightQuestions April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • The fact that this is something that has to be reported on is a fucking joke. Can’t believe cold war is even real.

    Roder777 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Cool, it’s still gonna be yet another cod game. Set in ww2…

    dumbomontana April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Cold War’s version of the game engine definitely feels like a step backwards.

    Escomoz April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • they can use whatever engine they want as long as they don’t have MW’s garbage gameplay again

    Krypton091 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Am I the only one that feels like no COD has ever felt smooth after Black Ops 3?

    KowloonENG April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Thank fuck, as much as I enjoyed Cold War, I absolutely hated how much of a downgrade it felt in terms of sound a feel compared to modern warfare 2019

    NightYoRi April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • Cold War had terrible lighting, it was especially jarring in certain single player missions where the lighting looked like a 2006 game, the really good thing the game excelled in was the great texture quality. Modern warfare had exceptional texture quality too plus good lighting and everything else Cold War did good, so its a good thing it’s running on that engine. Hopefully they’ll give us the optional HD/4K textures like Cold War . Modern warfare 2019 was amazing

    Justinschainberg69 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • I am done with wwll call of duty’s they can’t even get it right and still make shit the only good wwll cod was world at war make more modern cod’s plz

    alex567678 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • I don’t care as long as it’s not Cold War’s gameplay

    darioblaze April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • I liked modern warfares gameplay way more than I do cold wars so I’m fine with this

    Surgawd8 April 8, 2021 5:38 am
  • People put way too much emphasis on the engine.(it Is a technical masterpiece but not for what most people think) MW19 shooting, animations, movement etc aren’t amazing because of the engine, that’s devs doing hardwork. The engine is more how efficient the game runs. It allows for more accurate lighting, more visual effects and better sounds to run and scale on all kinds of hardware.
